My name is Ernest Esparza. I founded The Follow Up, a Life and Career Coaching company because I am passionate about bringing life to relationships at the stage where most fade, The Follow Up. The Follow Up ensures that YOU take advantage of every moment in order to build a better tomorrow.
Over the past 10 years, I’ve dedicated my time building communities. Coming from a family of 6+2, I’ve learned the powers of the collective from an early age and have strived to bring that same familial joy into the world. Over the past five years, I’ve focused on transitioning this joy from one time events to my coaching practice.
Currently, I am on my third and fourth career path simultaneously because I believe a career should not be linear. It should be as diverse as we are. It has been a difficult journey filled with hard decisions that hasn’t always entirely gone the way I anticipated and that is okay because life has shown me time and time again, my own visions have been short sighted. By constantly choosing my happiness first, I can confidently say I am exactly where I am supposed to be, and that is here helping YOU live Your life BY Design.

Why The Follow Up?
In 2022, I was unemployed. After a 6 year career, I found myself uncertain of what to do next. I knew what I was doing was not making me happy and my next step needed to be taken towards the directions of joy. After a trip to Austin, TX to clear my mind, I felt like coaching was the path for me. I began to write down my thoughts around how I wanted my practice to look like and I knew the key to success lives with relentlessly pursuing your passion. As I began to form my philosophy, I realized I needed something that encapsulated what I was creating. After months of struggling, the answer came to me one faithful night in Harlem, USA. At a bar with my friends, a New York Legend, Desus Nice, walks through the door. After a couple hours of talking, it was time to depart. My friends already knew I was going to ask him for his contact information to stay in touch. As I pulled out my phone, they joked that “Ernest for sure will follow up with you”. Desus laughed and said he gives out his email often but almost never sees a follow up.
At two in the morning, on a rainy night, I decided to ride a Citibike home to reflect on the conversation that was had and it hit me! Everything that I am, the philosophy that I am trying to build, and the thing that encapsulates the feeling I am trying to convey in the world can be described in three words: I FOLLOW UP!
So to whomever is reading this, I am The Follow Up. My purpose in life is to bring life where ideas, relationships, passions, goals, and dreams tend to wither away, at The Follow Up.
